The Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League encountered a weird situation over the weekend. Two of their top players Anthony Duclair and Adam Erne were suspended by the team on Saturday for one game before having the suspension lifted which allowed them to suite-up Sunday against Rouyn-Noranda.

Their coach Patrick Roy said that it was an internal issue and that he had to support the decision of the leaders of the team made after a meeting that didn’t include the two star forwards. The hockey hall of famer even went as far as to say that it was a life lesson for both of them. All this happened after the Remparts got whipped 11-2 by Halifax on Friday night. The duo was a combined minus-4 in the game.

Unless more details come out as to what exactly happened, all we can do is speculate that whatever it was must have been bad. Both Erne (20-35-55) and Duclair (15-20-35) are top four in scoring on the team. Quebec is in no position to willing take top players out of their lineup at the moment because they are missing Mikhail Grigorenko whom is on a five game tryout with Buffalo Sabers in the NHL.

The Rempart turned the ship around Sunday against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies as they won 3-2. Both players were held off the score sheet.

Last week Erne was listed as the 13th best North American forward available in the upcoming draft by NHL Central Scouting while Duclair was 35. The Remparts currently sit 7th in the QMJHL with 55 points and have compiled a record of 26-16-1-2.
